The Patron

The Patron
(Nineteenth century France - to the present? A millionaire shows off his art collection.)

Owner: Look here: Holbein, and Da Vinci, and isn't this a splendid Rubens?

Guest: Who is that painting that landscape out in the field?

Owner: (turning) Him! I'll have him escorted off the property at once.

Guest: He appears to be quite skilled. I can make out his composition all the way from here.

Owner: Nonsense! His talent is not nearly as impressive as my money. He could never afford to hang paintings like this in his home.

Guest: Why would he? He is an artist, himself.

Owner: He's a bum.

Guest: Do you know his name?

Owner: I think it's Vincent something or other. Why do you care?
